Hello Troop 633, there is some important information on upcoming events that you may need to know about. Rather than make several posts, all upcoming information will be included in this post.
Starting at the top…
Bring your family and spend time with friends at our troop picnic.
When: Saturday Aug. 27th
Time: 3-7 pm
Where: Lemon Park, Pavillion C between the softball and basketball fields
The troop will supply the hot dogs and hamburgers. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share, a chair or blanket to sit on and your own drinks.
Please email Cathy Goodwin at firstname.lastname@example.org with a “yes” or “no” and your side dish/dessert choice so we know what we have to get and the number of people in your party.
Hope to see you all there!
ATTENTION ALL SCOUTS AND PARENTS
The troop planning meeting will be next Monday, Aug. 15th at 7:00 pm. All scouts and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. The meeting will start a half hour earlier than our regular meetings. Please come with some ideas about what summer camps, week-end camp outs, and other activities you would like our troop to do next year. We will be having pizza and root beer floats. Be a part of deciding what our troop will do. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm sharp so don’t be late. Please send Jacob Goodwin, your SPL, an email at email@example.com to let him know who is coming so we have enough food for everyone.
Service Hours Opportunity
Need some service hours? Come help at the Channel Islands – Cool Breeze Bike Event. The event will be on Saturday, August 20th. Scouts are needed for a day of Fun, Work, and Cool Breezes in Santa Barbara and Ventura Areas. We would like to note that this is not a bike ride for us, but the scouts will be working CIBC Event, as staff members as we take down and pack up the lunch and break stop areas for the riders. Each scout will receive an event t-shirt, lunch, snack, and dinner. If you are interested, please use the sign-up sheets at the meetings to let us know you will be attending. We will meet at 10:00 AM for the drive to Santa Barbara and will return approximately 9:00 PM. If you have any questions you may call Bob Post at (805) 522-2153.

On October 23rd, Madera Elementary School will be holding a fundraiser, a Harvest Festival and Silent Auction. The PTA has been doing this event for several years, and work very hard to raise money for the school. A big challenge is getting enough volunteers, and staff members. The PTA was hoping some of the scouts could help out at the event, running a variety of game booths. The event runs from 4:30 to 8:30, and scouts will not have to work the entire time. If you are interested and would like to pick a time, or set your hours for working visit this webpage for scheduling and shifts. If you have any further questions you may contact Cassie Godwin and Tacy Torres via email. Hope some scouts can help out!
Looking for service hours? This Saturday, the 12th, Summerfest will be occurring. Summerfest is a non-profit and donates proceeds back to the 3 high schools in Simi Valley. They are requesting helped from us for parking assistants, trash, and tear down. To sign up, use SignUp Genius, which can be found here. The times are listed on the Sign Up Genius link, which you can choose the desired time you want.
Hope some scouts are able to help out!
Hello scouts, parents & friends,
The fishing trip has been rescheduled for Sunday September 20th so please contact me asap to reserve you spot!!!
Once the boat is full I cannot accept additional passengers so don’t wait! View the new flyer here.
SUNDAY MORNING: Troop 633 and 642 will meet at the Simi Covenant Church Parking Lot (4680 Alamo St, Simi Valley, CA) at 4:45 am. We will drive directly to Hook’s Landing (3600 Cabezone Circle, Suite 115, Oxnard, CA) and arrive by 5:30am.
The boat name is Coroloma
The boat is paid for, plus I have already purchased tackle for our entire group, so just bring a fishing pole or rent one there. If you have to rent a fishing pole you will do so at the landing and you will pay the $15 fee directly to the landing.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE RENTING A FISHING POLE WHEN YOUR RSVP!
I will be collecting $60 (cash or check) from each passenger ($50 boat fee, plus a $10 fish cleaning/tip fee) on the boat. If paying by check, please make checks payable to: “Troop 633”. Once you pay me, I will handle all monetary exchange with captain and crew.
With the exception of purchasing food and drinks on the boat, you will not need any other money unless you enter the jackpot for largest fish.
You may also bring your own food and drinks, but do not bring a hard cooler on the boat as they are not permitted. Keep a cooler in the car for your fish on the drive home. Ice can be purchased at the landing.
Please have the consent form completed before arrival and carpool. Drivers will carry consent forms while traveling.
If you are age 16 or over you will need a Sport Fishing license. These can be purchased for a single day or more depending on your needs. Please purchase your license before arriving on Sunday and bring it with you to save time. You can print the license after your online purchase. Please go to this website for the license http://dfg.ca.gov/licensing/ols/.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
