Medical Form Completion For Summer Camp

Youths and adults attending summer camp need to complete the BSA Medical Form. Parts A & B can be filled out by parents. Part C is to completed by a licensed heath-care provider such as a physician (MD or DO), nurse practitioner, or physician assistant.  Youths and adults who are going to Fiesta Island, and plan to participate in scuba diving, will also need to complete the PADI portion. It’s recommended to schedule your physical this month to avoid the summer rush.

Merit Badge Midway May 5

The  Bill Hart District will be hosting a career oriented Merit Badge Midway on May 5 from 8:30am till 4:00pm. The event will be held at the LDS Church in Saugus. View the flyer for a list of all the classes. Each scout should contract the Merit Badge Counselors prior to the Midway to complete any prerequisites.

Coin Collecting Merit Badge

Mark Gutierrez will be leading several coin collection merit badge sessions starting on 4/30. If you’d like to participate, sign up at the Monday scout meeting and download the Coin Collecting Merit Badge worksheet. Mark will let you know which session to attend. On the day of your session, bring your worksheet with items 6,7, and 9d completed. Happy collecting!

Sweatshirt, Class-B & Neckerchief Pick-Up

If you ordered a sweatshirt or Class B t-shirt, Mrs. Wix will be distributing them at the Camporee Pack Inspection this Thursday at 7:30pm.  For those who have not paid, please bring your check book.  Checks need to be made out to “Troop 633”.  Cash is also accepted. Also, if you received one of the small neckerchiefs at bridging, Mrs. Wix has your “real” neckerchief!  Please bring the small one and I will swap it out for the real one

Troop Events for May

May 5 – Crusin the Conejo Bike Ride
Bob Post will be leading a group of bike riders at an event in Thousand Oaks.

May 12 – Introduction to Leadership Training
This course is designed to help Boy Scouts understand their responsibilities within the troop and to equip them with organizational and leadership skills to fulfill those responsibilities. This is the first course in the series of leadership training offered. The event contact is George Kurata.

May 18-20 – Camping at Pismo Beach
Camping at Pismo was one of the scouts favorite events from last year (see photos). As with last year, scouts and parents can sign up for a horseback ride to the beach. The cost is $20 for camping and $40 for the horseback ride.

May 26 – Memorial Day Flag Ceremony
It’s a privilege to honor the flag and those who gave their lives defending it. This ceremony will educate and instill a greater appreciation for the spirit of the flag and love for the country. The event contact is George Kurata.

Tenderfoot Fitness Improvement Requirement

Attention New Scouts!

The Assistant Scout Masters for the Snipe patrol and the Trojan patrol will be supervising the fitness requirements for the Tenderfoot rank. The location will be Katherine Elementary school. The dates are Monday, April 16th, through Monday, May 21st, at 6:30 p.m. Each scout must attend any 4 of these sessions to complete the requirement. Scouts should wear their Class B uniform. All scouts are invited to participate and are allowed to wear their Class B uniform to the troop meeting immediately following the fitness testing.

Camporee April 20-22

The  2012 VCC Ronald Reagan District BSA Camporee is now 2 weeks away. Be sure to review the general information sheet and complete all the necessary forms. Also, don’t miss out on the bike ride to the campsite.

Pack inspection for scouts Second Class and under, will be held on April 19, at 7:30pm in the church parking lot.

Scouts who haven’t been to Camporee before can check out the Troop 633 photo album and video from last year to get a sense of all actives going on. It’s going to be an action packed weekend!

Sailing Trip on March 20

Scoutmaster George has arranged for a free sailing trip on the 138 ft schooner Bill of Rights. The trip will be on March 20 from 1pm to 4pm.
