Michael Theune, who earned his eagle scout rank under our former Scoutmaster, George Kurata, came from our own troop. Every year, the US Forest Service selects one of the nation’s National Forests to provide the tree that is placed in the National Mall. In this write up, there is more information on Michael getting selected to deliver, and it also includes a link to a documentary on the process of it. Both the links include several interview clips including Michael and his contribution to the process of selecting and delivering the National Christmas Tree. Enjoy!

Attention troop 633! Tomorrow, December 1st, there will be a troop meeting as usual. At this meeting we will be electing new troop positions, and you must be there to apply/accept the position. If you are looking for a leadership role in the troop, it is mandatory to attend. Even if you are not looking for a position, you should still be there to vote so you are not disappointed by the decision made on who is elected. Please try your hardest to attend this meeting so the positions can be fairly determined. This meeting will be at the same time as 7:30, but we ask you to arrive before the meeting begins so that everyone can be prepared for the voting. On a side note, Trojan patrol is running games, Sabretooths are running flags, and Thundercats will be running dessert. Hope everyone can make it to the meeting!
On Saturday October 25th, Simi Valley High School will be having their Band Spectacular Event. The Committee has reached out to the Boy Scouts of America to see if we can help them with the event. They will need at least 20 boys to come out and help with checking wristbands, snack bar assistance, crowed control, and trash pickup. They will be asking for participation from 3:00PM- 9:00PM. These service hours will be recorded and all scouts will receive credit for the hard work that they will be doing. For more information about how to help out, please contact Cindy Slack at 805-207-9206 or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Our troop has an opportunity to assist the Rotary of Simi Valley in their annual Pooch Parade event at Lemon Park. We are asking scouts and parents to help volunteer from 9AM to 3 PM, counting toward your service hours. There are many jobs at this event that need to be filled by scouts. Parents are also needed to help set up (7:00 AM) and man a Boy Scout booth (9:00am-3:30pm). For further information on this event you may visit their website.
